Reddish Manor, Oxfordshire
This historical house dates back to 1501, and has a wealth of stunning character features. It’s a small venue with just nine bedrooms (sleeping 12) and two bathrooms (no upright showers, but lovely big baths with a showerheads). It’s an ideal choice for those looking to host a more modestly sized reception with the convenience of accommodating a select few loved ones. There are plenty of B&Bs in the area, and this venue also benefits from having no immediate neighbours.
The best thing about this venue is that the building has been thoroughly modernised in terms of technologies, cooking equipment and facilities, and you’ll also find higher ceilings than you might expect from such an ancient structure.
The pool is surrounded my mature foliage for privacy, and features a waterslide to keep the little ones out of trouble, and a pavilion to provide shade. Your guests will have access to as much of the 4 acres of grounds that have been hired – you have the option to simply book the pool and a small patch of lawn, and for larger events, you can just add as much extra garden space as you need.
Shiningford Manor, Derbyshire
Here at Shiningford Manor, you have the flexibility to be able to accommodate between 12 and 24 guests in the house and converted stables.
This contemporary barn conversion features an expansive pool and two hot tubs with a beautiful view over the Derbyshire countryside, and inside the building you’ll find excellent modern décor with traditional touches and character features.
Exposed beams are met with bright white walls and stylish bathroom tiles, with a stainless steel kitchen and large windows throughout. There’s also a charming courtyard garden with a terracotta chiminea, and mature wisteria hanging over tables and chairs. There’s also a good sized lawn next to the pool, which is fenced off so you can keep an eye on the kids. A truly spectacular venue, Shingingford is also pet friendly, has Internet, and features an open log fire in the living room.
Park Hall, Worcestershire
Built in 1710 and offering glorious Georgian splendor, this enormous venue can accommodate up to 177 guests. Far reaching views of agricultural land give a sense of seclusion, and unless you count the frankly astounding number of nearby sheep, your reception won’t be overlooked at all.
There’s an area for al fresco drinks receptions directly next to the house, that features a 100yr old pond and statue, and your guests are free to roam the lawns and manicured gardens around this magnificent house – which will be lit up after dark, providing a dramatic effect and real sense of occasion, as well as highlighting the beauty of the architectural features of the building.
The swimming pool here is indoors, but has large glass doors that open up onto a patio. In fact, the entertainment facilities here are fantastic – there’s a games room, a music room in the basement with a drum kit and guitars, a sun lounging room and several country walks around the 132 acres of grounds, which include journeys through bluebell-carpeted woods and around ancient trees.
