Affordable yet traditional and elegant Scottish wedding venue

,

Edinburgh is a place that can be enjoyed in all seasons, and Dalhousie Castle is no different.  Open log fires, a wealth of medieval weapons, armour and tapestries, beautiful views of the River Esk from huge, towering windows and versatile, spacious function rooms are just a few of the stunning features of this historic wedding venue, and the mature parkland surrounding the building complete the unique charm and character of this wonderful place.

The quality of the cuisine, welcoming smiles from the staff and a strong sense of Scottish tradition make a wedding at Dalhousie Castle an unforgettable experience.  If tradition is what you’re after, you can arrange for a Scottish banquet as your wedding breakfast, and you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to backdrops for your wedding photographs.  The evocative setting of the Dungeon Restaurant is perfect for an old-style feast, and features beautiful suits of armour, domed stone walls and an ancient stone floor – all lit by candlelight.  Bookings can be made for tables of up to 22 people to enjoy a meal here on most evenings.

However, if you want to book this award-winning restaurant exclusively for your meal then it does have to be booked at least two years in advance.  This place is popular with both locals and guests alike, and while it is possible to book it as a private dining space for your celebration, most receptions take place in The Orangery.

The Orangery Restaurant does have sweeping views over the South Esk River and the poetically beautiful local countryside, plenty of space and light, and as a blank canvas space, is easy to personalise and decorate.  Either way, your guests will enjoy spectacular, locally sourced organic food in a comfortable and elegant environment.

The private Chapel is a stunning example of contemporary design meeting traditional architecture.  Licensed for both religious ceremonies and civil ceremonies, this space features an enormous domed ceiling, elegant stained glass window with a traditional alter in front of it, an open fire for a feeling of warmth and welcome, and an antique golden chandelier.

Your basic wedding hire cost will include a Master of Ceremonies, an owl ring delivery during your ceremony (optional, but it’s a Snowy Owl so how could anyone resist), a regal greeting, a glass of chilled champagne and a selection of canapés for your guests, a traditional Scottish Piper to sound the start of the feast,  stylish name cards, menus and a table plan, use of the stunning Honeymoon Suite for the bride and groom, and even a session for two in the spa’s Hydropool with another glass of chilled Champagne – perfect for nursing those sore heads and de-stressing together after your big day.

Call Function Fixers now to discuss hosting your wedding at Dalhousie Castle – we might still be able to bag you a bargain on a summer wedding here in 2014!
