The Priory enjoys a prime town centre location and yet still benefits from its own 19 acre parkland setting. The contrast in environment is striking, to one side is the quaint market town of Hitchin and to the other acres of secluded parkland allowing conference delegates and guests the best of both worlds. The grounds are ideal for outdoor activities of every kind.

Originally a Carmelite monastery built in 1317, Hitchin Priory has progressively evolved over the centuries and now gracefully combines a mosaic of ages. The Priory helps you forget the hustle and bustle of a busy business schedule, allowing you to enjoy distraction-free meetings and events with a clear head.

Arched Cloisters, wooden panelled walls and detailed architraves all add to the character of this truly remarkable building. The main house offers gloriously decorated rooms ideal for private functions. Alternatively, the beautifully landscaped Marquee located adjacent to the River Hiz running through the grounds is capable of seating between 80-200 people and is ideal for corporate functions as well as weddings and other special occasions.

The Priory has a range of beautiful rooms licensed to conduct a Civil Wedding Ceremony for up to 90 people – please use the link below for more information. The Priory Park Marquee can seat a maximum of 200 people for the wedding breakfast and up to 350 for an evening finger buffet. Within The Priory the luxurious Delme Room can seat 80 guests and we can then accommodate up to 200 for the evening buffet with entertainment in the magnificent Atrium.
