This restored Georgian cotton mill tells the story of ‘King Cotton’ from a bale of raw cotton to finished cloth. The process is brought to life by spinners, weavers, machine demonstrators and interactive displays. Interpretation panels and static displays illustrate the world of the mill workers. The original Apprentice House recreates the 1830s atmosphere of the lives of the child workers. Quarry Bank House Garden, recently opened and still undergoing restoration, offers the chance to explore the private recreation area of the Greg family as it was.
