The Azulito Bar
The Azulito Bar is a hidden gem in the heart of the West End. Sitting beneath Wahaca’s busy Soho restaurant, the bar is a laid-back and welcoming. Exposed brickwork, bright upholstery and low lighting work together to make the vibe upbeat and interesting. A colourful DJ booth plays mellow mixes of contemporary tunes and a cage display houses the bar’s excellent collection of authentic Mexican tequilas.
The name ‘Azulito’ (meaning ‘little blue’) pays tribute to the blue agave plant from which all tequilas are distilled. The bar stocks a great range of 100% double distilled tequilas, the purest and by far the tastiest. The tempting cocktail menu has a range of fruity margaritas, mezcal and tequila based concoctions, and some original Mexican twists on other classic drinks, developed by the in-house bar team.
An excellent space for hire, be it a corporate event or a private party, the bar holds up to 120 standing with plenty of informal bar seating. Smaller groups can also reserve a seating area, a great option for birthday parties and after-work drinks. A ‘greedy canapés’ menu can be catered down in the bar forgropu bookings: bite-size versions of the most popular Mexican street food dishes from the restaurant’s menu (picture juicy slow-cooked pork pibil tacos, crunchy sweet potato taquitos and sugary churros rings (Mexican doughnuts) with a rich chocolate dipping sauce).
