A head for heights is essential if you’re visiting the City’s most elevated Champagne bar, & not just because of the panoramic views over the capital from the top of the former NatWest Tower. With fizz starting at £51 for Philippe d’Albecourt Brut & climbing close to £800 for a magnum of Krug Clos du Mesnil 1990, the bill can be dizzying. Best stick to the short, global wine list if you’re watching the pennies – though even a glass of vin de pays rosé will set you back £8. The short menu plays second fiddle to the drinks, but alongside the refined nibbles & canapé selection you will also find robust stomach-fillers such as roast free-range pork fillet with tomatoes, spring onions & marjoram dressing. You get the most spectacular view looking west over St Paul’s, so book well in advance to bag the best seats.
