The hilly streets of the town are packed with a diverse array of cafes and an eclectic mix of independent shops. A short drive up a hill or a steep 30 minutes walk will lead you to the rugged beauty of Rodborough Common, owned by the National Trust.
Here you will find the Bear of Rodbourgh Hotel, built some 300 years ago. From its position on Rodborough Common, the Bear commands spectacular views over the region’s surrounding hills and valleys. This former coaching inn has been restored to its heritage and period features. The interior has been lavished with rich fabrics and antique furniture.
The bedrooms are all non-smoking with internet access and are located in the original main house and the adjoining Woodchester House. Many have fine views.
Guests will also discover that the excellence of the cuisine and wines served in the hotel’s Box Tree Restaurant is hard to beat in the local area. With close links to local producers, the Box Tree are able to source the finest in meats, fish, cheese, vegetables and fruit.
The hotel has four conference rooms, the largest seats up to 60 delegates.
