Òran Mór is one of Glasgow’s most distinctive event venues, occupying a beautifully converted former church in the heart of the city’s West End. Located at the top of Byres Road, directly opposite the Botanic Gardens, the venue combines striking historic architecture with flexible event spaces suitable for conferences, corporate events, dinners, receptions, meetings and private celebrations.

The showpiece space is The Auditorium, an atmospheric room retaining many of the building’s original church features, including stained-glass windows. Overhead is the spectacular ceiling mural by celebrated Scottish artist and writer Alasdair Gray, one of the venue’s defining features. The Auditorium can accommodate up to 360 guests theatre-style, 276 for a banquet or 500 for a standing reception, making it suitable for conferences, presentations, awards dinners, receptions and larger corporate events. Facilities include a private entrance and bar, PA system, in-house staging, cloakroom and lift access.

For larger and more informal events, The Venue is an underground performance and event space accommodating up to 500 guests standing or theatre-style. Its distinctive character makes it particularly well suited to live entertainment, product launches, company parties and events looking for something less conventional.

Òran Mór also works particularly well for smaller gatherings. Dan Mór is a private dining room overlooking the Botanic Gardens, accommodating up to 32 seated or 40 for a reception, while the Beattie & MacLennan Room offers another intimate option for dinners and receptions.

With its combination of historic character, original artwork and varied event spaces, Òran Mór is an excellent choice for organisers looking for a Glasgow venue with considerably more personality than a conventional conference hotel.

Location & public transport: Òran Mór is in Glasgow’s West End at the top of Byres Road. Hillhead Subway Station is the nearest subway station and is just a few minutes’ walk from the venue, providing straightforward connections to Glasgow city centre.
