Shoreditch Electric Light Station
Coronet Street, Central London (N1 6HD)
Shoreditch Electric Light Station, home of the National Centre for Circus Arts, is a unique facility providing highly adaptable spaces for hire. The magnificent Combustion and Generating Chambers, along with numerous smaller studios, are available to hire throughout the year and have been used for events as diverse as gala events, product launches, film and broadcast industry showcases, and catwalk shows.
This fascinating building began life as an electricity generating station in 1896. The individual studios are available to hire throughout the year, providing flexible and affordable space.
The Generating Chamber is a large space with a 280 sq m floor area. The chamber retains some of the period industrial features of the building’s former life as a power station. Exposed red brick creates a warm atmosphere complimented by natural light. Again the freestanding roof allows all of the floor space to be used.
The Combustion Chamber – at an imposing 25m long and almost 18m high this is the largest of the spaces available. Pillarless construction creates an unrestricted floor space with excellent sight lines. Access and adaptability make this an ideal environment for a range of configurations from conference hall to catwalk.
The venue also offers two smaller studios for filming and photo shoots, and these can be hired on an hourly basis.
