Built in 2005, as part of the redevelopment of the Grade II listed Electric Press printing works, The Carriageworks provides a stunning backdrop with a sympathetic meeting of old and new architecture. Located on the first floor, this modern venue overlooks an historic glass-roofed and heated courtyard which in early Victorian times was home to the West Riding Carriage Manufactory, from which it takes its name. Today the theatre showcases the best national and international touring productions and has quickly established itself as a key entertainment destination. It also provides an important performance space for local performing groups and companies.
