The Old Government House Hotel and Spa, more affectionately known for hundreds of years as The OGH, is at the heart of St Peter Port, just up the hill from the main shopping street and barely five minute’s walk from the picturesque quayside.

Despite the central location the situation is extremely peaceful and tranquil. Set on a charmingly quiet street, the imposing Victorian facade overlooks a delightful little park. Once inside, you realise that the property is arranged around a gorgeous private garden, with terraces and heated swimming pool. Facing to the South East it is a perfect sun-trap that affords stunning panoramic views over the harbour, castle and sea, with the islands of Herm and Sark sitting a few miles offshore – on a clear day one can just make out the faint outline of the French coast. It’s an idyllic spot for relaxing with a book and a drink, taking a dip or a bite to eat, indulging in light conversation or just topping up your tan.

Old Government House, as the Governor’s official residence, has been hosting memorable events, lavish receptions and important meetings since the time of the French Revolution – so whatever the occasion the OGH is more than capable of rising to it. It is still very much the island’s premier hospitality venue and our dedicated meetings & events team have a wealth of experience – they’ve organised everything from state banquets to society weddings, lavish charity balls to political summits.

There’s a choice of seven individually styled meeting and banqueting rooms that combine traditional pomp and circumstance with state of the art technology. Theatre style presentations for up to 300, or banquets up to 150, can be comfortably accommodated, but we can also host much smaller and more intimate occasions – so whatever you have in mind, from a board meeting to an anniversary dinner, we have the people, the experience and the resources to make everything go magnificently.
